The W. Davis & Sons opened their saddlery sometime in the 1890s and in 1925. The saddlery was sold to Keyston Brothers Saddlery of San Francisco. It was by the 1920s that quite a few of the smaller saddleries were being bought out by larger saddleries or the smaller ones were merging together after the automobile started to really gain popularity in main stream America after World War I.
