The Saddlery of J. K. Polk was established in the mid 1880s and he established a large clientele of Cowboys and Ranchers. The J. K. Polk Saddlery was considered one of the finest in Texas which was bustling with Cowboys, Cattle Drivers, Ranchers and Military Calvary, and Border Patrol. In 1897, J. K. Polk sold his Sweetwater, Texas Saddlery to S. D. Myres or Samuel Dale Myres who made the Saddlery into one of the most famous of the Old West and into the Industrial Age.
